The Commons on Marice Teams up with I Am Kindness to Host Beauty Through the Generations Event

EAGAN, Minn. (Jan. 6, 2014) — The Commons on Marice, a senior living community, is teaming up with I AM Kindness, a local group of volunteers, to host a  beauty makeover for a group of residents and some family members on Saturday, Jan. 11th, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Commons on Marice will be the site of the multi-generational beauty makeover. This event is first of it’s kind at The Commons on Marice showing how beauty flourishes both on the inside and outside no matter the age. The schedule for the days events is as follows:

  • 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Multi-Generational Beauty Makeovers (1st Floor Club Room)
  • 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Boutiques with Clothing, Jewelry and Accessories for Sale (Lobby)

Residents of The Commons on Marice and their daughters, granddaughters, and even great-granddaughters have been invited to enjoy a professional beauty makeover that includes hair styling, full makeup, as well as getting their nails polished. Professional photographs will be taken for each of the families that take part.  Five families are eagerly looking forward to enjoying the multi-generational makeovers as a fun family experience and having keepsake photos to help commemorate the special day.

The beauty makeovers are being provided by I AM Kindness, which is a group of volunteers that perform random acts of kindness throughout Minneapolis, sparking inspiration, promoting goodwill and spreading more smiles. The group was founded in February 2013 by Sarah Edwards and works with a large network of local volunteers. When asked about the goals of I AM Kindness, founder Sarah Edwards stated, “The members of I AM Kindness have a sincere desire to help others in any way possible. Doing these makeovers provides as much joy and enrichment for us as it does for the people we have the opportunity to serve. It’s a fun time for everyone involved, particularly with multi-generational events, where residents and their families get to share a special ‘Day of Beauty’ together with loved ones.”

The Commons on Marice and Krystal Spa and Salon, on-site, will also be providing support for the event and a lunch. The local Eagan area Girl Scouts will also participate. Girl Scouts and their mothers will join by serving refreshments throughout the program and helping coordinate activities.

When asked about the Beauty Through The Generations event, Mary Yaeger, executive director at The Commons on Marice, commented, “Bringing together multiple generations is one of our primary objectives at The Commons on Marice. We know our residents love to have events that their children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren can take part in with them. A beauty makeover event will be a great way to celebrate the new year and it’s being eagerly anticipated by our residents and their families.”

In addition to the beauty makeover event, local boutiques will be offering clothing, jewelry, and accessories for sale and also for partipants to wear. The boutique will run during the entire event and will be in the lobby of The Commons on Marice.
