The Commons on Marice to Mark it’s 15th Anniversary in Mid-June

Senior Living & Health Care Community Celebrates 15 Years of Service in the Twin Cities.

EAGAN, Minn. (June 2, 2014) — The Commons on Marice, a Platinum Service® senior living community in the Twin Cities, managed by The Goodman Group, is celebrating its 15th anniversary on June 19 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The Commons on Marice provides senior residents with a full continuum of care so they can stay in the same residential community as their care needs change, including independent living, assisted living, memory care and care suites.

The Commons on Marice is planning a 15th anniversary “birthday party” with The Intergenerational Learning Center, located one block away. Throughout the year, the Center partners with The Commons on Marice for activities and events like this to provide both children and older adults with extraordinary opportunities for sharing and learning. The Learning Center is operated by Intergenerational Living & Health Care (IHLC), a Minnesota-based nonprofit organization whose national mission is to strengthen connections and understanding between generations.

“We are excited to join forces with the Intergenerational Learning Center for this special event,” said Mary Yaeger, Executive Director at The Commons on Marice. “Our senior residents and the children from the Intergenerational Learning Center, ages six weeks to eight years, really look forward to these special occasions and have grown up being a part of our community. We see that both generations benefit from the interaction, and the children develop confidence, skills and self-esteem, as well as meaningful relationships with our residents.”

The Hawaiian 15th anniversary “birthday party” will feature a hawaiian pig roast and music by Johnny Pineapple and the Waikiki Wildcats. Johnny Pineapple has performed at The Minnesota State Fair, The Superbowl and The Minneapolis Aquatennial. His five piece band includes an interactive hula dance lesson experience for audience members of all ages. The kids can enjoy a bounce house, an old-fashioned ice cream truck, a mini putt golf course, and Sea Life Minnesota from The Mall of America will have a touch tank. This joint community event is complimentary and open to the public. The Commons on Marice is expecting around 300 outside guests for this fun event.

“Mary has been an exceptional leader for our Senior Living & Health Care division for more than 10 years,” said Craig Edinger, Vice President, Senior Living & Health Care, The Goodman Group. “The Commons on Marice is a great example of our distinct design, service and program offerings. The Commons at Marice was recognized in 2013 with the Silver – Achievement in Quality award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The award program highlights select facilities across the nation that serve as models of excellence in providing high-quality long-term care. They have also earned the Excellence in Assisted Living Award through Care Providers of Minnesota, a state-wide association for older adult health services.”

“It has been an honor to be the Executive Director of The Commons since 2004,” said Yaeger.
